MEET THE OWNER

My name is Donna and I sincerely appreciate your consideration of The Daily Dog for pet care services.

I know that trust is the number one factor when choosing someone to care for your pets. I take tremendous pride in having created a company that provides our clients with total peace-of-mind and, for me, it is an honor to earn your trust.

I have loved dogs for as long as I can remember. I adopted my first Doberman in 1999. I had such a passion for the Doberman breed, so much so, that I began driving from MA to Sandown, NH on the weekends to volunteer for Doberman Rescue Unlimited. I would do anything they needed to help out the animals and the shelter staff. I wore many hats as I started learning about dog training from the shelter’s trainers. I brought home some of the worst cases so that I could foster and rehabilitate them myself, and did so with so much success, that I began thinking that one day I would love to do this for a living full-time.

In 2005, while working for a law firm, I became motivated to learn more about K-9 training. At the time, I was having difficulties with my young Manchester Terrier, Phoenix. He was attacking big dogs during our walks. I hired a few trainers during that time with little to no results. So, I traveled to Carbondale, IL to train with Behesha Doan of Extreme K-9. It was recommended that I attend her 2-day seminar to help with my dog’s issues. I was amazed at what I learned in those two days and saw a huge change in my relationship with my dog (for the better). I was so impressed with her seminar I decided to go to her school. I wanted to know as much as possible about dog behavior. From there I began training foster Doberman’s to give back to dogs in need. I became certified in dog training with a focus in Remote Collar Training. Although there is no requirement in MA to be certified as a dog trainer, I felt it was important to do so.

After years of working in a corporate environment, I continued to be envious of people that were able to work with their dogs every day. So, I decided to jump ship from the corporate world and founded The Daily Dog, LLC in 2012.  We started off with a large staff of “Me, Myself and I”.  Being a true dog lover with a business background, dog behavior psychology and obedience training skills, I felt I had the skill sets required and passion needed to run a top-notch dog walking and training company, a company that I would trust my own dog(s) to.

My goal was to grow the company so that we could serve as many towns on the South Shore as possible. Five and a half years later there are 12 of us and we serve Marshfield, Scituate and Norwell!

I am also always continuing my education to stay current with ever evolving dog training knowledge. As a dog trainer, I use multiple techniques to achieve obedience goals. I am a results-oriented trainer that uses positive-based training techniques. My passion today is helping young puppies get a jump start on successful, happy lives. I also enjoy working with the dogs I call “cowboys” and “cowgirls,” the wild and crazy ones. I love to take that energy and put it into “good manners” training. My focus isn’t always on the puppy or dog. Teaching pet owners how to communicate effectively with their dogs is critical in my teachings.

Overall, I work with puppies to mature dogs – teaching basic to advanced and off leash obedience. Training is 95% positive reinforcement. The dog needs to enjoy training or you can’t get very far in your results.

I have multiple training certifications and am Certified in CPR, First Aid & Care for Your Pets by PetTech™.

Thank you again for considering The Daily Dog for your all your pet’s needs. We look forward to the possibility of serving you.
